TN: A few Friday tastes - MG Ruchottes, Leflaive, Vega Sicilia, Clair BM, MM Richebourg

  • 2017 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru (4/14/2023)
PnP. Open for business. Great precision on the nose and pallet. White fruit and minerality. Balanced, with a lingering finish. Very solid. (91 points)
  • 2017 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes-Chambertin - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru (4/14/2023)
Quick decant. So bright and lifted on the nose, bursting with red fruit and a hint of baking spice. Palate is luscious and complex, layers of fruit and spice. Truly one of the best of the vintage. (96 points)
  • 2010 Mongeard-Mugneret Richebourg - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru (4/14/2023)
PnP. Nice nose with strawberry and Vosne spice. Palate is well balanced, bright cherry, integrated tannins although a bit lighter weight. (92 points)
  • 2017 Domaine Bruno Clair Bonnes Mares - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru (4/14/2023)
Decant. So tight. Needs lots of air. After 2 hours it started to reveal soft blue fruit on the nose. Palate is rustic with lots of blue fruit and good acid. Very rustic at first, really softens with air. Very primary at the moment, but all the pieces are there for the long term. (92 points)
  • 2022 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Único Reserva Especial 2008, 2010, 2011 (2022 Release) - Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero (4/14/2023)
Decant. Extremely smooth. Nose has some dark cherry fruit and a hint of iron. Pallet is luscious and full with black fruit and just a touch of tan and bite. Finish lingers. No real sense of heat even with the 14.5% label.
