So I’ve seen some talk about Petit-Roy in the rising stars topic, and I thought my first topic on this forum should be my two cents on Seiichi Saito’s wines. I’ve only had three different ones at this stage, but also have two more bottles of the CdN 2016, one more of the Aligoté 2019, Chorey 2019, Savigny 2020, ‘De Sousa’ 2020 and Pernand-Vergelesses Les Combottes Blanc 2020!
I saw a post about them being what I’ll call “generic new-style Burgundy” with low intervention, light extraction, minimal use of oak, small quantities and overall very light, fruity and accessible wines. I agree mostly with this statement, but I also really enjoy this style of wine for what it is - easy drinking and lovely Burgundy.

2016 Petit-Roy Côte de Nuits Villages - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Nuits Villages (16-12-2022)
Wow is this a sexy CdN Villages for the price!
Light, fresh and almost ethereal in its expression. Light extraction it seems like. Red forest berries, only a few dark ones hiding in the back, a tiny and very balanced amount of sous bois that gives it depth with a hint of white pepper and some florals.
Bright and sexy acidity with a minerality to match it perfect, and the tannins are soft and forgiving at this point but still present to not make the wine boring. (92 points)

2019 Petit-Roy Bourgogne-Aligoté - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne-Aligoté (26-03-2023)
Wow is this just a wonderful Aligoté for the price point and Seiichi behind Petit-Roy keeps impressing me with some lovely wines.
Coming from almost 40 year old vines located in the lieu-dit 'Aux Boutières' in Savigny-les-Beaune. Aged in barrel for about 9 months but sees no new oak.
There's a ripeness and power to the wine with candied citrus fruits, lemon zest, orange peel, exotic fruits, honeysuckle and white flowers. But then again there's a lightness, freshness and crisp minerality with lemon, green apple, unripe apricot and oyster brine to really lift up the wine and bind it all together. (90 points)

2018 Petit-Roy Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Rouge - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune (04-06-2023)
Purchasing this bottle a few weeks ago for €27 probably weigh in a but on the score, but it's also an excellent wine if you're into this style.
Such a light and beautiful color and you can even see through the wine in the bottle...
You can tell right away on the nose that this is light extraction and the oak-usage is minimal with only used barrels.
Strawberry jam, raspberry, sour and dark cherry and redcurrant mixed with a hint of florals and a bit of damp moss and forest floor. It's just super inviting and makes you want to sip it right away.
Palate was exactly what I expected - light, bright, refreshing and juicy. It follows the notes on the nose as well accompanied by a lovely fresh acidity and mellow tannins that only give you a slight tingle. Getting this minerality in a wine like this is beautiful.
Definitely focus on the primary fruits with just hints of secondary/tertiary peeping, so I guess this won't be for everyone. (91 points)
