TN: A Champagne I have very much enjoyed over the Holiday Season ...

  • NV Taittinger Champagne Grands Crus Brut Prélude - France, Champagne (1/5/2015)
I have not been able to find a disgorgement date for this Champagne. It was my favourite at a store wine tasting of NVs in December 2014 and I have enjoyed a couple of bottles over the Christmas period. Colour bright gold. Persistent small bubbles. A breezy, fresh nose of citrus, pear, greengage and wet granite, showing only limited autolysis notes expressed as a little almond croissant. In the mouth, the nice dosage is what initially attracted me about the Champagne, not too high. Good fruit weight and power with quite racy acids. Also, a reasonably detailed flavour profile of greengage, lemon, yellow apple and pear, with some river gravel, chalk and minerals on the reasonably long finish. (92 pts.)
