TN: 2023 Grosjean Petite Arvine Valle d'Aosta Vigne Rovettaz

2023 Grosjean Petite Arvine Valle d’Aosta Vigne Rovettaz

One of the wine pairings at Topolobampo and paired with a crispy heirloom truffle filled corn masa tringle. 100% Petite Arvine. Straw color. This had moderate acidity and was a better match for the course than the first wine served. Notes of peach, fennel and ginger with a waxy texture. 89 points.

I used to love this wine ~10 years ago, when they were quite consistently fresh with modest levels of alcohol and high levels of acidity, year in year out.

Today the wine feels more unreliable - some vintages have been quite heavy and considerably ripe, rarely showing the levels of acidity I was used to. I guess in some vintages this can still be a lovely wine, but I guess global warming is hurting Aosta as well.
