TN: 2023 Di Costanzo Cabernet Sauvignon DI CO (USA, California, Napa Valley)

  • 2023 Di Costanzo Cabernet Sauvignon DI CO - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/7/2026)
Shy at first, but then here comes the fruit . . . and it lingers. Very much a fruit driven wine and very much a Napa Valley Cabernet. This beauty will stay strong for at least a decade. Uncomplicated, but not unsophisticated. (93 points)

I opened-up my next to last 2016 DI CO a few days ago…a really nice Napa Cab with an old-school vibe…I knew it would be a long shot, but I liked it so much that I immediately went online looking to see if I could find more…as expected, no go…

Keep an eye on WineBid; surprising how many DI CO vintages turn up there.

Just bought a case of the 2023 and looking forward to try them. Interested to know where this vineyards is located since I think it is located just below Coombsville

The vineyard for the DiCo is in Oak Knoll at the base of Mt Veeder.

Nope. The source is the Rafael Vineyard in the Oak Knoll AVA, which also serves as a source for wines from Rafael et Fils, Zeitgeist Cellars, and Miner Family. I believe Dave Miner uses the grapes in blend with grapes from other sources; the other three vintners make single vineyard designate wines from there.

Rafael et Fils is no more. The last Cabernet under that label was 2019. I believe, at one time, Tom Farella made the wine.

Glad I have some left in my cellar!
