- 2022 Sixteen 600 Rossi Hommage Blanc - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (1/13/2025)
80% Roussane, 15% Grenache Blanc, 5% Clairette Blanc. An outstanding white, mouth coating and endless, without being heavy. None of that oily Roussanne vibe going - just a fresh and food friendly white. Good job! (93 points)

So… a Phil Coturri wine? Is it a natural wine??
At one time, early on, his wines were so unclean/brett-laden, they were the laughingstock of Zins. But he’s cleaned up his wines.

It was Tony’s wines that were so bad. He was a real character. Remember at one tasting He was smoking weed one time. He does know his farming/pharming!!

Tony’s wines are still sketchy. Not quite as Russian Roulette as they used to be, but close.
I had two bottles of Tony’s wines, that I brought home from a visit to his winery, explode in my cellar,

Yes, Phil Coturri wines. These are nothing like Tony’s wines. I had the Cab Monte Rosso and Syrah as well the days before - excellent wines, very well made.
But speaking of Tony, his Albarello was a revelation wine for me - I didn’t know wine could taste like that. Sent me down the rabbit hole of natural wine in 2015.

Good folks doing good stuff. Have had them on a few Rhone Ranger zoom seminars and very interesting folks. Their rose was a joint venture with Philip Cambie, and since his death, they’ve been working with his protege. Their greanches are not for the faint of heart
