It’s nice to see that 2022 Onkel Peter was rated more highly than all of the auction Kabinett wines.
In reviewing the latest MFW reports, at least a dozen wines are among the best in their categories.

Grabbed a bottle of Gisela in Maine today. Amazing to see them sitting on a shelf but I guess thats what happens when you can’t ship out of state.

I did badly with the planned inventory reduction last month and one of the more spontaneous purchases (from a German retailer) were 7 bottles of this wine. Reading this doesn’t make me feel less happy about it

Smart move! MFW gave Gisela the same score as the VDP auction Kabinetts from Egon Müller and Willi Schaefer, which will fetch a great deal of money.
Don’t overlook Kugel Peter, Mia, and Ternes. MFW also rated these three Kabinetts very highly.

Eh I know I’ll get a bit more from my normal sources… also I did a week road trip with 4 people in a two door convertible so space is…tight. ha!

Now that you mention Ternes, Lars, how does it differ from Gisela? Those vines certainly aren’t young either.

Ternes is a parcel on the steeper part of the slope above Kugel Peter and Gisela. All three of these parcels of old vines border one another.

I should add that from cask Ternes was quite herby, spicy, and smoky.

Last night, I uncorked a bottle of 2022 Ternes. It tasted great and almost dry.

Picked up some bottles to lay down for my future enjoyment and couldn’t be more excited. Now is the hardest part- I have to do my best to keep my hands off them for a few years.
Drink some now and some later!

That’s the problem! Had a mixed 750 case of 1s and 2s to lay down, but got down to less than half when I realized it made sense to re-stock.

Yesterday, Johannes uncorked a lineup of 2022s for Russell and served them blind. I was really impressed by the wines, especially Onkel Peter and Gisela.

Yes a lovely couple of hours in the garden informally.
I also thought the 21 Red very strong. Lovely wines all.
