TN: 2022 Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah! Santa Cruz Mountains M-CF Mariana's Vineyard

  • 2022 Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah! Santa Cruz Mountains M-CF Mariana's Vineyard - USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains (7/10/2025)
Without question, this is the most interesting Bordeaux variety blend wine I have had in years, maybe decades. The combination of bright, lifted fruit, and plush without being lush texture is like balls of lightning riding on a river of silk. Red fruit essence, and the slightest hint of spice carry through the velvet mid-palate, and then burst out on the finish, which is bright, mouth filling, and long as the last note of A Day in the Life.

Thoughts on when to drink if I’ve only got one bottle?

Gosh…whenever you need some joy?

Whoa! Thank you, David!

Assuming M-CF is Merlot-Cab Franc?

Apparently a one-time bottling?

Yes, Merlot and Cab Franc. As for one time, you never know with Hardy.

If you want to try it I can try to remember to bring one in October.

I’m in agreement, only to add that once you try the 2023 CF you might feel that it is even more interesting

Yes. 55% Cab Franc, 45% Merlot. The yields were so low in 2022 that we had to combine the Cab Franc and Merlot.

2023: The Franc, Merlot, and Sauv are on their own (like 2021).

2024: I’ll bottle CF, Merlot, Sauv, on their own but intend to make a very small run of a 2024 M-CF-CS blend. There isn’t much Merlot in 24 so it will be CS-CF heavy.
