TN: 2022 Domaine Gramenon Côtes du Rhône La Sagesse

  • 2022 Domaine Gramenon Côtes du Rhône La Sagesse - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône (3/19/2024)
An engaging nose of violets, ripe berry and cherry and musk. The palate is fleshy and full, with great fruit intensity and intriguing savoury nuance. It is velvety, voluminous and long, carried by perfectly ripe tannins.

Thanks Jeremy. I like the Gramenon wines a lot but they are not cheap. And price creep has continued year after year. The Corbieres rouge of Maxime Magnon are in a similar vein but they are priced richly also.

They aren’t? I mean everything is relative but as most of the range retails for under 40€ I would say that on average the prices are pretty approachable for a biodynamic producer with a good rep.

In the US, we pay the “Kermit tax”

I also pay the “Hawaii Tax” which puts the Gramenon range in the $45-$50 arena. But yes, for well-made bio wines they’re worth the premium.

When they’re on, they can be gorgeous. But I’ve had plenty of bottles that were just too reductive, at least for me.
