TN: 2022 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieille Vigne

Had a nice bottle a year ago w/Steve when it was quite young. Another taste at Paulee confirmed a winner in '22. Have some-it was staring at me- took one for a spin…

What's not to love here? - Burg nose all day. Alluring. Red-fruited -good balance and depth- iron and black cherry fruit...and so damn crushable! A bit of spice carries through to permeating finish that turns slightly dry- Polished and poised- hits all the right notes with ease- hard to put down. Really terrific village wine.

Ordered a case of this en premier that missed the spring shipping window. Looking forward to cracking one of these in the fall. Thanks for the note!

Great note–I opened the Gevrey the same day as a friend and I shared a bottle of the 2022 Morey Clos Solon and both were excellent. I’m glad I was able to get a couple more bottles of the Gevrey.

Really delicious now. Cherry and red berries on the nose framed by a ferrous almost meaty note. Plenty of cherry and red berry fruit on the palate with a pleasantly mineral-driven and savory edge on the midplalate and finish. More overtly structured than the Morey Clos Solon from the same vintage and thus with ample stuffing to age, but I would struggle to resist opening more now if I had them.

Restaurant purchase so notes from memory. Surprisingly velvety and approachable despite its youth, this is less overtly structured than the Gevrey villages from the same vintage. Red fruit, tobacco, and a savory undertow that hints at its potential future development. The bright acidity made this especially food friendly tonight.

Thanks, Matt! Great notes on your end as well. I managed to snag a couple Clos Solon from Thatcher’s at a decent price when they appeared for a second a few saturdays ago. Looking forward. Thanks!

Thatcher has really decent pricing through their allocation program. Crurated is also worth keeping an eye on. Obviously Tariffs are a concern at the moment, but I managed to order for $85 a bottle through Crurated.

Thanks for the note & reminder to pick up more. Had a bottle at a Thatcher restaurant dinner (I think it was priced at something like $120) and agree it was outstanding juice.
