TN: 2022 Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Bourgogne Côte d'Or Blanc

I was expecting this to be good but I think it still managed to overdeliver. A very high class white Burgundy with grapes apparently 80% from Puligny and 20% from Chassagne. Super good winemaking with oak very obvious yet not overpowering at all. Lovely saltiness throughout.

This wine is not shy about its oak. Nuts and butter are the most immediate notes on the nose, fortunately there is plenty of sunny, vibrant citrus fruit pushing through as well. Tangy and stony and somewhat reductive, complex enough and very attractive. On the palate it has some concentration and intensity for sure and again the oak plays a role, however perhaps more on the texture than the taste profile. Despite packing a punch it manages to play wonderfully light on its feet with a wonderfully crisp finish. There is great freshness to it with a mouth-watering quality towards the finish. It undoubtedly showcases its Puligny-Chassagne pedigree with its quality of fruit, balance and vitality. A tremendous wine, I do not wonder why any available bottles are picked up so fast.

This wine was an absolute steal 6-8 years ago, and I still think it’s a great value, given what a lot of Burgundy goes for these days. Nice description of the ‘22. I just had it recently.
