TN: 2021 Goodfellow Heritage vs Bertheau 1er

Bertheau is the clear winner today, but great to put these two side by side. Goodfellow is making great strides and this might be the best vintage yet.

  • 2021 Domaine Bertheau (Pierre et François) Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (12/29/2023)
PnP. So charming and delicious. Sour red berry profile on the palate is just stunning. Wide open with great structure and depth. So many layers of flavor and texture. Great wine. (94 points)
  • 2021 Goodfellow Family Cellars Pinot Noir Heritage No. 18 Temperance Hill - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills (12/29/2023)
PnP. Nose just bursts from the glass with young red fruit and sour cherry candy and a touch of menthol / herbal note. Palate is cool and vibrant with fresh red fruit and tart cherry notes. Finish is a bit taut and clipped and should develop more with some time. Wonderful effort. (93 points)

Nice comparison. And great argument for top Oregon producers doing good things but also competing very well on $$
