TN: 2020 Les Quatre Piliers - Touraine "Bel Air" (France, Loire Valley, Touraine)

2020 Les Quatre Piliers Touraine Bel Air - France, Loire Valley, Touraine (6/15/2024)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 2 - 3 hrs on Day 1; revisited on Day 3 –
– 100% Sauvignon Blanc –

NOSE: ginger and pineapple dominate; medium to medium+ expressiveness.

BODY: medium-full bodied; light green-yellow color.

TASTE: tangy acid, but not screechy; nice combo of tanginess, mineral tones, and fruit flavors. Not a grassy Napa, and not a cat pee New Zealand expression — rather, very Loire. 13% alc. hidden. Possibly better on DAY 3. Lots of dry extract. I agree with those who’ve said they think this will age well. That said, it feels pretty expensive at $58, and I doubt I will rebuy.

I opened one of these a few weeks ago and it really impressed me. Loved the density and high dry extract style. The structure reminded me a lot of some of my favourite white burgundy, which is a big plus in my book.
