- 2020 Domaine Lionnet Cornas Chaillots - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas (5/29/2025)
Decanted 1 hr. I have been waiting with a good amount of anticipation to finally crack this first ever Chaillots bottling from this relatively newly minted star from Cornas. The most obvious comparison is the 20 ‘Per Granit’ which I had over a year ago so I’ll have to rely on my notes for recollection. Straight to the point, this is a deeply impressive Syrah. Less floral and maybe even a touch less polish that the PG, this carries a more savory edge of Cornas, but stops a little short of going into the more wild side of the appellation. In fact, refinement is what kept coming to mind - especially the texture, so zero doubt this is going to be a beauty when it matures in 10+. I’d drink this anytime any day.
