TN: 2020 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot

• 2020 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (3/23/2025)
  Decanted 6hrs. I have been very bullish on the 20 vintage in Bordeaux, and here is yet another testimate as to the overall quality of the wines. However, while I have found most of the other 20’s fairly open, this right banker is playing its cards very close to the vest. Impressive aromatics, extremely floral with dark plums and some Xmas spices. We some of those traits carry over to the palate, but then a pretty serious wall of tannin kicks in, as does a fine line of crisp acidity leading to a confident and measure finish. This is going to be great, just needs time. *shameless self chef praise alert* I had this with a Guinness Pie, beef stew meet slowly braised with two large cans of the beer, what a great pairing. (94 points)

I opened a bottle of this recently, lovely stuff. Was particularly impressed by the depth of minerality and how fresh it was even after 3 days being open and drinking it out of a red Solo cup the last day (was brought to a trivia night). The 2022 seems to have gotten a lot of praise.
