TN: 2020 Camp Wines Zinfandel (USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County)

What a great little supermarket Zin. Never heard of producer before and only thing that made me pick it was the 13.5% ABV. Fruity and not at all overdone. Faintest elegant hint of oak (to the point where it could also just be neutral barrels), soft, but not non-existent tannins, good balance and refreshing end. Happily buy again. And for price, a steal. (92 pts.)

After some research: Camp is a lower priced sub-brand of Hobo Wines. Now it makes sense - they make pretty good stuff, form what I’ve heard.

And the price, Adam??
Tom

Think it was $18.99 at WholeFoods in Miami.

Splitting hairs here for no real value but hey it’s an internet wine BB. I don’t think that Camp is a sub-brand. All of the different brands were originally developed for a specific purpose. In most cases those have evolved over time. Based on a short conversation I had with Lynn a few years back, if they were able to start over, I believe they would do away with the large number of brands.

Camp is great at its price point. I haven’t had a bad bottle yet. I buy it if I see it locally.

Can vouch for everything Hobo does, including their little import rhone. Kenny and Lynn are great folks and talented winemakers.
