2019 Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (9/9/2022)
Ten pounds of wine in a five pound bottle, and ten pounds of sugar in a five pound bag. It’s a huge Spätlese, and really sweet. Needs decades to come into its own. If you have more (I do not) please bury it in a cave, and let your heirs unearth it after the apocalypse. It will survive, and be even better after the zombies have had their dominion and been subsequently defeated.
A whole crowd of people wants to know if there’s peach or not man.
Also, *descendants
Duh! My bad. Happy hour was extra happy today. Trying to forget the week.
And peach? Not really more like crystallized pineapple.
It sucks to be 73.
One wonders how many bottles will survive a couple of decades.
Mr Morris May quibble, but I know pretry well what the wine is from this.
(Plus the crystallised pineapple someone contributed)
Guess I’ll open my next bottle when I retire then.
Sounds like you feel Richter did the vineyard right here, albeit in large-scaled package. Thanks for the note, David.
I would say so, but this wine should have been labeled as Auslese.
I felt much the same regarding the 2012 Auslese.
Opened their 2019 Graacher Himmelreich KABINETT tonight… and it also might as well be a (mini) auslese.
The Richter wines are sensational with age.
A local shop used to carry aged releases from the winery. The cork tops would be black with mold, but the wines were perfect like honeydew nectar.
