TN: 2019 Scarlett Rutherford Petite Sirah

my first Scarlett wine ever, purchased from Wine Spies ($28 bucks - spoiler, great value)
My first impression: how in the hell did they make a petite without tannins? holy $hit this is smooth and easy to drink. 15.2%, say what? Not a hint of heat. Dark purple and opaque, dusty nose of classic petite, with dark berries, a touch of coco. On the palate is where I go, “what”? Basically no tannins, so crazy for a petite. This is a good wine, not great, but very nice for $28 bucks. I won’t be cellaring my remaining 2 bottles, drink now.

for those familiar, is this what all Scarlett wines are like? I mean, it is good, but it doesn’t seem terribly serious. House style?

That PS sounds great! I don’t have a ton of experience with Scarlett wines but the zins are super hit/miss. My first 2016 was fine…but 2nd was brutally bad. Note below.

This bottle tasted MUCH heavier and hotter than my last one. Just way over the top and missing the acidity that created balance on the last one. Bottle variation?? Either way, glad to not have any more in the cellar as this was not great. 86 points.
