2019 Weingut Rosi Schuster Rotburger - Austria, Burgenland (12/2/2023)
– decanted 30 min. prior to initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over 3 hrs. on Day 1; revisited on Day 3 –
NOSE: expressive; medium-dark red fruits with a complicating spicy element.
BODY: medium-light bodied.
TASTE: red-fruited along with a leathery/glou-glou/savory facet — almost Cab. Franc-ish; high acidity; low-level brett, or something funky in similar vein. Day 3: pleasant juicy cranberry note now; quite frankly, it’s pretty remarkable how well this showed on Day 3, suggesting this humble little $20 may actually age well over at least the near term. I liked it, as I usually do with Schuster’s reds.
