TN: 2019 Pierre Girardin Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères

My first 2019 from a new arrival. Based on this specimen, the vintage seems to have the ripeness of 2018 with the acidity of 2017.

2019 Pierre Girardin Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet (10/8/2021)
Pop and pour. Bottled under wax and 55mm super high end natural cork. Nose was intoxicating from the first minute with nectarine blossom, minerality, river rock, white flowers and the lightest touch of vanilla/oak. Tight on the palate at first, needed an hour of air to shine. Then it exploded with perfectly ripe white and yellow fruits and a nice backbone of acidity. Finish lingers. Should really come together with a few years in the cellar. (93 pts.)

Nice note Andrew. Many of the 2019s have been out for a while here in London so I’ve had a chance to pop a few. I agree with your assessment re: 2019/2018/2017.

Also where 2018 has been really hit-or-miss, the 2019s have been much more consistent across the board so far. Even for producers that really struggled with excessive ripeness in 2018.

Andrew. Thanks for the note. I am excited about the wines. I know everyone is really all about the reds but I love white burgundy. This vintage looks fun.

His 2017 Folatieres is very nice.

Hmm… just checked the prices for the '17 and they are 4x the price it was just last year. :joy:
