TN: 2019 Leo Steen Chenin Blanc, Peaberry

Damn! I’m telling you, this is a chenin blanc that even @David_Bu3ker would like!!

2019 Leo Steen Chenin Blanc, Peaberry. Mendocino County. Wow, this is absolutely electric!! I’m a big chenin fan and I’ve heard great things about what Leo Steen is doing but this is the first bottle that I’ve opened. I am truly blown away by this wine. Lovely hazy straw color and a great nose filled with citrus and florals. In the mouth, this literally stopped me in my tracks. Captivating notes of chamomile, dandelions, lemon Pitt, and and just a slight note of cotten on the long finish. Medium plus bodied with the perfect amount of acidity. One of those wines that really makes you perk up, pay attention, and remember why you absolutely love this hobby. Can’t wait for my next Leo Steen!

Leo Hansen, owner-winemaker of Leo Steen wines is the king of domestic Chenin Blanc. Makes 3 of them each a distinctly different style based on the site. Rich, good to hear you enjoyed the Peaberry!
We have been enjoying them for many years.

BTW, Leo’s other wines are also excellent. The Grenache and Cab. Franc come to mind.
