TN: 2019 DuPuis Pinot Noir Le Benedict (USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley)

Figured this would be a timely note

  • 2019 DuPuis Pinot Noir Le Benedict - USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley (7/19/2024)
A blend of Wendling, Abel (which used to go into the Les Voisins blend at Copain), Klindt and Romani fruit. Popped and poured, was a bit disjointed and acidic so we let it breathe for a couple hours and that did the trick.
Dark ruby color, nose flush with dried rose petals, raspberry and rhubarb. Palate is black cherry in droves, supple and silky. A touch of sweet berries with acidity in perfect balance. Married well with our pork tenderloin. The finish turns to sour cherry with super fine tannins. Very tasty, enjoy for the next 10yrs.

Brian, I remember years ago, on some our earliest trips to Anderson Valley (maybe early 2000s?) meeting a guy named Bob Klindt. He used to make wines called Claudia Springs if I have it recalled correctly. I remember being up in AV and a few of us drove up (I think it may have been myself, Chris Fitch and @SeanKennedy). We tasted in his garage. I assume that the Klindt vineyard is of the same Bob Klindt, right?

Oh for sure! Anthill farms made a Klindt Pinot too didn’t they?

Wow! Never heard of the winery but I sure know about Ned Benedict. RIP.

Edit: Ah I see this is Wells Guthrie’s winery.
