    Looks ever so slightly hazy in the glass. In the same vein somewhat volatile on the nose with attractive yet tart red cherry-cranberry fruit and what seems to me something reminiscent of eucalyptus but in a very non-Aussie way. Is there some whole cluster action here? I like it, I can see another person disliking it. On the palate this shows the vintage’s richness and headiness to the extent that would one guess there to be more than the 13% ABV the label is stating. At the same time there is also freshness and good acidity. Something Gamay-esque about it, which may be good or bad depending who you ask. Quite the poise on this one, definitely not a timid wallflower. I reckon it could use some time sideways to reach a more harmonious and relaxed state but I am digging it, it’s got character.

    Day 3 update: the headiness is largely gone and the wine has reached a very harmonious and appealing stage with the fruit taking on a sweeter expression. Very nice!

Interesting note. I had an ‘18 a few months ago and it was also both hazy and surprisingly ripe. I have one left and plan to let it sit for a few years to see what happens. Would be interested to hear others’ experiences with Lafarge’s Bourgogne. With the caveat that it was an '18, I was still surprised to see this style from Lafarge.

Out of the 3 2018 bottles 2 have been corked. One was quite delicious. Not a great success ratio. I haven’t yet opened 2019 BR.

The good bottle was very juicy but not too ripe IMO.

Oh man, there’s no excuse for that in this day and age. I don’t get why all these producers just don’t go DIAM.
