2019 Domaine de Montrieux Ithybole - France, Loire Valley (4/20/2023)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 2 - 3 hrs. –
– 100% Chenin Blanc –
NOSE: initially expressive, but less so after a couple hours open; natty; a touch oxidized; cidery; has a funky/natty/light tanned leather aspect that I don’t like.
BODY: pale green-yellow color; medium bodied.
TASTE: medium acidity; actually not funky on the palate; strong papaya note; fuzzy metallic mineral; pretty flat / one note; a bit heavy at 14% abv.; squash; a bit wooly; opposite of the zippy high-acid style. Not a fan.
