2019 Altamura Sauvignon Blanc - USA, California, Napa Valley (12/12/2024)
Haved loved these wines back in the day, although sometimes they can be a little too sweet with botrytis for my tastes...this 2019, while pretty rich for SB, is more on the lean side with a good dose of crisp citrus, to go with the ripe tropical fruits...refreshing, yet plenty of volume for a more substantial wine...wonderful salted pineapple/mango...smoked honeycomb, white pepper spice...somewhat edgy with sharpness...tart lemon...wish they had some semillon to add(love that ala Bord)...not as exotic and complex as I've had in others...still a very pleasing and more contemplating drink than most Ca. SB. No worries for replacing Mondavi To Kalon as the best...but better than most! Consistent in three recent bottles. (93 points)
