TN: 2018 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Summa Old Vines

  • 2018 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Summa Old Vines - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (7/12/2022)
Mailer hits…got to drink and buy! As with the reg 18 Summa, this wine is SO seductive, intoxicating, and expressive! The fruit is pure and liqueured with wild red berry fruits…smooth and creamy…with a twang of tangerine sours…really quite puckering, yet melds together with the perfectly ripe fruit…exotic and savory red licorice, sandalwood spice, smoked cherrywood…pretty florals of dried roses and forest floor…but here is where the “old vines” comes in play…the wine has an AMAZING seamlessness…an elegance and softness that caresses like a hug from my wife…giving comfort and contemplation…makes you start daydreaming…happy about the current mailer purchase. No better Pinot Noir(s) made in Ca. imo. (96 pts.)

I enjoyed this one too but just got rolled trying to call this blind.

I’ve had this one once before blind with Paul and Frank and I had the same impressions. This is very atypical for this particular bottling. It’s lightly colored and not nearly as jammy and doesn’t show any Orange or the strong strawberry. There is a strawberry note and the wine is lightly colored. It’s a feminine wine and very enjoyable.

I saw this note appear a day ago. Thanks for the note!

Looking forward on getting the 2020!

ps. I hate your cellar. Not because I’m jealous or anything but… Ok, I’m jealous!
