- 2018 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru (12/14/2025)
With a warm solar vintage and an exceedingly reliable producer, I forecasted a rich but well made Chardonnay, perhaps something like a Mersault and was delighted to see this had more Chablis typicity than I predicted. While not in the classic vein of say 2014, this nonetheless really surprised with me with its elegance and poise that confidently spread across the whole palate and to great effect. Citrus, celery salt, and a distinct Earl Grey note work in harmony and unison - closes with wet pebbles and the trademark Preuses floral quality that really shines on the long finish. Just outstanding. (94 points)
