TN: 2018 Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT

A super-perfumed, pretty and accessible Tig. There are waves of creamy, luscious berry fruits. It has a hint of cedar and some purple florals too. There’s moderate structure buried under the flesh and some Sandalwood spice to the long finish. Lovely balance.

haven’t had it in years but loved 07 often while traipsing through Italy. Of course the $35/bottle price helped.

Got 3 from Costco a week or two back. I am inclined to pop one but will likely decant it 2-3 days prior to drinking. How much time did you give this before drinking?

Wow! Outside of vintage Port, I’ve never heard of anyone decanting for several days before drinking. That seems like a really long time. Is this something you commonly do?

Thanks for the note, just picked up a few. I’m inclined to hold for 10+ years, any reason not to?

I’ve done overnight, so maybe 18+ hours on a young cab just to see where it is. I’m not a huge fan of drinking big wines young. This is a wine that can age 20+ years and 24+ hours of air would probably soften the tannins and make it more approachable for my liking.

$35? Holly molly.

I gave it a 3 hour decant.

I started buying annually with the 2004 vintage at about $60. Since the 2016 it’s been $129.99 locally. 2016 was my last vintage.

I had a bottle off a wine list at a good price in Hilton Head.
Obviously did not decant but based on my experience I would not open a bottle of my own any time soon. I think it will be an excellent wine but no way I could tell drinking it so young.
