TN: 2017 Schöne Tal Cellars zu Ehren von Arlo Hirschy Vineyard

  • 2017 Schöne Tal Cellars zu Ehren von Arlo Hirschy Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton (5/5/2022)
One of my many treasured discoveries from BerserkerDay, this one was recommended highly by my buddy Charlie Carnes , and what a recommendation it was. Each of the Pinots I have had from this producer have been and fantastic, this one loaded with fresh red mountain berries, beautiful minimality, but what really sets it apart is it stuffing. Wonderful wine, complex and interesting

Great note. I’ve really enjoyed David’s Pinots. The black label barrel selection wines have all been great.

One of my favourite discoveries of BD13. The wines worth seeking out if you haven’t already.

Great note! This is such a treat. 100% whole cluster glory!

I got the jump on you, this was a BD12 order, and David went full-cop mode on me when I ordered on Early Purchase Offers (Preview Day), abiding by the rules so strictly that he required I confirm with him that I am indeed GCC and can therefore purchase ‘legally’ on that day. I explained to him that I’m EVERY group, baby! newhere

I enjoy the information shared on the back label as well - great for the geeks, and Charlie Carnes asked if it was whole cluster, as these wines ‘seem like they are’ to him, and it was great to reference the back label and find out that, and much more, about the wine.

This wine continued to develop and gain complexity over the course of hours, and is now going to be part of my ‘must buy’ list on BD14, so hopefully D ulbricht has some wine to sell for BD14! I only have 4 more bottles of Schöne Tal remaining!

I misspoke. I purchased from David in BD12 as well, I put it as one of my discoveries of the year in 2021. No black label single barrel selection in 2019 (David got an offer he couldn’t refuse for the barrel, so just one lucky fella has it). So grab the some 2018 and 2017 while David still has some!

Hopefully he sees the callout I gave him in this thread…went to their website and the shop is ‘closed for maintenance’ [swearing.gif]

Shop’s been under construction for well over a year now. You just need to send David an email with your order.

Someone needs to tell them that German wine labeling is not the model to emulate.

This sounds really good. What’s the $$?

Good morning, afternoon or evening, wherever you may be. I, at the moment, am traveling and will be back in the Willamette Valley on Monday. But, first, thank you all for the kind words and I am so delighted folks have discovered us and have been enjoying the wine. I thank Todd Hamina for introducing me to Wineberserkers and now thank the regular followers, whom have become friends, and supporters of our wines. Yes, the online store is closed, at the moment because I need to update a few things on the website. However, if you have questions, want to talk story or wine, please message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Have a wonderful day.

Rodrigo- looking forward to our visit this summer. Thanks for the support. Be well and travel safe. Cheers!

Good evening, Berserkers. Panning through Wineberserkers and came across this post from @ToddFrench and subsequent comments from @Charlie_Carnes and @Rodrigo_B. We finished with BD14 and wonderful success. Thank you. As some of the comments suggest, our Black Label is essentially our favorite barrel from the vintage. Typically, one barrel and one barrel only. As @Rodrigo_B mentioned, we did produce a Black Label in 2019 but a fine gentleman and his wife made an offer for the barrel that I could not turn away. However, if anyone has any interest, I do have a limited supply of Black Label from the 2018 and 2020 vintage. If interested message me and I will get in touch with you. Be safe and well out there. Cheers.

You all need to load up on these wines.

Last year I tried to order iirc, and it just went sideways. Weird. This year I won’t let it dissuade me, I’ll persevere.

Persevere!!!
