2017 Scarlett Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve- USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford (5/22/2022)
Pop n pour, a little reduction at first but it blew off. Notes from 3hrs in. This one is a winner, big bold mouthful of black currant, mocha and cedar. Wonderful balance and depth with layers of blackberry, blueberry framed by chewy tannins and french oak. This is Mike at his best.
This is drinking beautifully now! The fruit to me has settled in nicely and tannins have mellowed. A few years have done this wine good. I’ve picked up several from WTSO over the last few weeks.
Yep, the 17 and 18 are very different. The 17 seems dialed back a notch and drinking much better now. The 18 is excellent as well but needs a good decant now and definitely has a long life ahead!
