Enjoyed immensely over three days. It never waned a bit and in fact was more enjoyable on day three! I still wish Paul and Jackie owned the vineyard. This 2017 Alturas Syrah had beautiful plum on the nose and palate along with smoke, black licorice, herbs, and black pepper. Beautiful acidity and fine tannins were in balance giving a wonderful texture on the mouth. Fresh black pepper lingered on the finish for well over a minute. I enjoyed this Syrah more on day 3 as smoke took a more dominant role with less black licorice. This is in a really good drinking window right now!
