TN: 2017 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (Italy, Abruzzi, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo)

Broke a nearly two week wine hiatus last night with a fave producer.

Not a vv bottling. Best of recent vintages to drink young - IMO- just a touch of that Pepe youthful spritz that blows off quickly. Integrated on the palate, there's just no hard edges. All about the sexy textures. Delicate and Floral. The fruit (black cherry?) is supple and clean, yet almost refreshing when coupled with the acidity. Pepe wines have an uncanny ability to capture so much purity and freshness, but also depth of flavor and intensity. Not sure what else to say. Drying tannins permeate the finish. As always will live a while. Excellent.
