TN: 2017 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé (France, Provence, Bandol)

2017 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé - France, Provence, Bandol (6/8/2018)
Drank this through the Warriors game 4 win over the Cavs. Got better and better. My first 100 point wine

OK, classic Tempier, more florals and fruit than Tempier spice, but fabulous wine. (100 pts.)

Thanks a lot for the spoiler. I was just about ready to watch the game.

I really hate that. Totally unrelated sports reference that spoils the game for anyone who wants to watch it delayed.

All sports references should be in sports threads.

Alan, I had this wine earlier this week and enjoyed it too. Keep an eye out for Pibarnon, which I think is just as good, and possibly better in this vintage, for about two thirds the price.

Alan, you owe an apology to those whose lives you have ruined.

Some of you thought the Cavs were going to win? LOL
Sounds great, Alan.

I apologize to anyone dumb enough to go on the internet at all and not expect to see headlines all over announcing who won a championship game [wow.gif]

Seriously, never even thought about this as a spoiler, sorry if it ruined the game for someone.

I have yet to try the Rosé from Pibarnon. The one time I tasted a Tempier Rosé, I wasn’t blown away - too young. The Terrebrune, however, was one of the best I’d ever had!

I’ve purchased some 2017 Tempier and Pibarnon Rose wines, but have yet to try either. I’ve had a bottle of the 2017 Pradeaux, which is also quite nice. I’ve also held back most of the 2016 Bandol Roses I purchased, since I thought that was a vintage that showed particularly young on release.

Another bottle, this is a great vintage:

Watermelon and canteloupe. Those two fruits describe everything about this wine: its color, the nose, and the palate. Beautifully light mix of watermelon/canteloupe color, followed by a fragrant nose of the same mix of fruits along with some light spice, then a wonderful fresh, airily intense palate with the same fruit mix, and the trademark Tempier spice; great mouthwatering acidity with just a hint of tartness for balance. This is the best Tempier Rosé since the wonderful 2012, and before that the brilliant 2007. Every five years seems to be the rule, can’t wait for 2022. (93 pts.)
