TN: 2017 Caroline Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Chambrées

Nice little number from Caroline Morey. Really like (her?) wines. Wish the prices would stop escalating.

  • 2017 Caroline Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Chambrées - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet (9/3/2023)
    Youthful, vibrant, light-yellow color. Still needs some time to my palate. Decanted 30 mins. Some hints of flint, wiry acidity and citrus notes. Well balanced, but still feels compacted. Needs some time to open a bit, so I do see some upside. A good, young drink.

Better try before the prices start reaching Morey/Colin-Morey levels!

My thoughts exactly :laughing:

I love this wine from Caroline Morey. I have bought this 3 separate times at $87.00, August 2019, $80.00, January 2020 and last time a 6 pack at $69.99 in September 2022.

Looking at wine-searcher those prices are long gone for more recent Chambrées

Yep. $90 for me a few years ago. And Champs Gains wasn’t much more. Seems long gone now.

@scamhi As we were saying…$180 all-in!

I got a bottle of the 2020 for €80 back in December together with her red Chassagne 2020 for €48 and a 1er Les Vergers 2020 for €125. I doubt I’ll ever see those prices again - especially 2021 with so low quantities… Love her wines though.

Had this over the weekend. Good, not great. Lacked depth of a great wine, but it was clean and direct in its delivery of Chassagne, lemon, apple, and discreet wood. $99 at local co-op.
