This is the third bottle of this wine I’ve opened and my experience this time was more similar to my first experience with this wine in 2022 when I had it with @J_Cangiano and @Mariano_Chiaramonte in Miami. Just stunning nose with super pure red fruits and lovely palate with ample acidity. We had this open for an hour or so before it was poured and it needed every bit of that, because it took another hour or so to really open up, but after that it was just sensational. It grew in power over the course of the evening and the finish was really where it shone ultimately. This was very similar to the Miami evening where we held the bottle upright for every last drop. Amazing. I have the Bonnes Mares on deck for later this week which I’m excited about.
Well, we just had a Burg tasting of 20 wines 1995 to 2017 - and while the 2 bottles of 2017 (1erCru) showed well, they were far too young and not really enjoyable. The same with 2014.
The most pleasure gave the 1995, 1998 and 2001, 2002 and 2003 (!), 2 bts. of 2005 still a bit young.

I thought the 17 last night opened up quite nicely after being open for an hour, but did continue to improve a lot through the night so clearly could use more time. The 17 I opened in Miami 2 years ago was ready to go off the bat, but I opened another bottle last January which was certainly not ready.
Had the 17 BM last year and it was super tight and nowhere near ready even after a few hours in the decanter. I’d imagine the Beze might just be a better early drinker.
2017 Amiot MoreySD Ruchots and Arlaud MSD Blanchard - while not really tight they were not very expressive and seemed “simply fruity” without much depth - but there was more beneath
FWIW I had the same wine vintage 2022 yesterday - very promising and really good in its fruity phase - it only had the problem of Mugneret-Gibourg and B.Clavelier aside … better in 10 years.
I guess it really depends what you care about in wine; as I’ve said earlier I care most about freshness in wines, so I prefer to drink wines earlier than later. If you only have a few bottles certainly they’d probably be better in 5-10, but I think 17s in general with some exceptions are good to drink from now to 2044 and beyond.
I really like BC, and obviously the Beze, BM, and CSJ are the big three. But my pet favorites in the lineup are his Cazetiers (which approaches the CSJ), the Dominodes (which is super old vines and up there with the best in Savigny), and the Chambolle Veroilles (which is a great modestly priced way to scratch the Chambolle itch). The Vosne Perdrix can also be excellent, though I see it less often for sale.
