TN: 2016 Selbach-Oster Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese

Saw this on sale at the ol’ LCBO and instantly grabbed it - less than $30 CAD!

Savoury iodine on the nose with peach and a sort of lovely non-tart green apple character. The palate is unctuous and oily and has a bit more grapefruit and perhaps a hint of mango, but the fruit character never veers into the excessively tropical or displays overripeness. The acidity here isn’t as sharp as I usually like my Mosels, but it was delicious and I am excited to try more of their offerings - their standard Kabinett bottling I had a few weeks ago was one of the best entry-level Rieslings I’ve had.

Props to Mr. Bueker and others for spreading the good word about Selbach Oster.

If you liked his 2016s, find some of his 2015s. The acidity likely would be higher in a 2015 than in a 2016.
