Marc, when Fu comes down in January, let’s blind and wow him with that special Connecticut red table wine. Served by Rocky and his boa.
Put it in a box. Then he’ll never know.
so, about that allocation.
pm is best.
thank you
But, but this is your finest work.
All accurate, but you can’t say “perhaps it is best you don’t participate in Wine Talk” and honestly say you never said it, even on your board.
Bullshit, Todd. You have access to our PM exchange just as I do. If you want to explain the context in which you did it, that’s fine, but don’t deny that you did so.
Ok, let’s go.
From me, May 2nd:
Todd F r e n c h:Martin,
I’ve received a couple reports about your semi-veiled ‘shilling’ of products you sell, stating also that you sell the wines, which all those I’ve talked to (including 2 moderators) believe is designed to have folks reach out to you to buy them. That’s shilling, in our book, thus if you want to continue, you’ll need to be BerserkerBusiness, as otherwise your posts will be edited by moderators.
Some are more blatant than others, and read as an offer, like this one - https://www.wineberserkers.com/forum/vi … 0#p2486580 - but regardless, it is our belief that you are using thinly-veiled language to advertise products and/or your shop.
Your reply, same day:
Martin Steinley:Todd, that is laughable. I have been criticized for shilling if I post about a wine I sell, but don’t mention that I sell it. Now, I mention if I sell any wine I post about, and I am criticized for shilling. Your message and prior ones seem to be a thinly-veiled attempt to generate income. I believe that it is best that I not participate in Wine Talk.
My reply:
Todd F r e n c h:A member brought up the issue, I asked my moderators for input, all agreed. I didn’t notice it until it was pointed out to me.
With what you said, and your unwillingness to play by the rules others do, perhaps it is best you don’t participate in Wine Talk, as you said.
As you can see, you stated “I believe that it is best that I not participate in Wine Talk”. I replied that if you choose not to play by the rules, perhaps that’s a wise choice on your end. At no time did I suggest or request you stop participating - I quite obviously agreed with YOUR suggestion that you stop, IF you choose to avoid the rules that everybody else follows. Makes sense.
Robert, I apologize that this otherwise valuable thread on a producer I love has gone so far astray.
All accurate. However, you fail to explain that I was playing by the rules every time, doing just as you requested by including ITB in every post and, going beyond in almost every case, to include an explicit disclaimer if I sold the wine. Therefore your prefatory clause about unwillingness to play by the rules is simply more bullshit, such that your “perhaps it is best you don’t participate in Wine Talk” stands alone and you can’t honestly say you never said it, even on your board. And, you continued to push me towards becoming a BerskerBusiness, which holds no appeal for me.
Ok, let’s go.

No I did not - would you like me to wuote the rest of the PMs or have you whined enough in this thread because your shilling has been reported multiple times by multiple people? Here’s the entire remainder of the conversation.
I don’t know what is more depressing – the back and forth between you all or the fact that I actually read it.

Or the fact that a VdP cost > 50$
Or a retailer with a portfolio containing Allemand is being whipped
Or a moderator is flipping/swopping an Allemand from said retailer
Disclaimer: I like Allemand
I don’t know what is more depressing – the back and forth between you all or the fact that I actually read it.
You know it puts an extra beat in your step going into the holiday weekend.

Fu, Neal is near retirement. The only thing that puts a beat in his feet, or any other appendage, is the act of never having to sludge through life again like the rest of us lawyers, which ironically, is half the people posting on this thread, including the combatants. Todder’s post also had a fishy lawyer smell to it. . . .

You had asked me to become a BerserkerBusiness before the exchange you have quoted. As I explained, I was playing by your rules and going beyond to ensure full compliance. However, with this exchange, you changed the rules, maintaining that writing a tasting note and indicating that I sold the wine was not disclosure, but shilling. I don’t need your board to sell wine. I have been here to obtain and share information, nothing more. Now, all, please carry on to discuss wine.

Please do discuss wine, but again your statements are untrue and I continue to prove it.

The latter. I understand as an attorney you’re trained to be thorough or are responsible for all the detail, but this isn’t one of those times. Plus, this isn’t billable.

Robert…I’m concerned that this will end up being WOTN for Fu, where afterwards he hoards the entire market, driving up the pricing and screwing all of us out of this unicorn New England wine…with nothing remaining we will be left to swallowing all pride and begging him to flip it to us on C.C!! …too spon?
