2016 Argiolas Turriga Isola dei Nuraghi IGT - Italy, Sardinia, Isola dei Nuraghi IGT (8/22/2021)
I have really been looking forward to trying a Turriga for some time, I had it around 2000-01, and for what ever reason it took me another 20 years to buy another bottle. Decanted 4rs. Being mostly Cannonau (Grenache) and some French oak, I saw a lot of similarities with a semi modern CdP. Kirsch liquire and a slight creamy quality are the initial impressions, but things get more interesting pretty quick. To start with, the acidity level is much higher than a CdP and add some ashpalt and an pine resin quality give the wine character, even charm perhaps. Huge tannnic structure too. There is really good material here, just needs time, perhaps 5 to 10 years. I really enjoyed this. (92 pts.)
