TN: 2015 Jean Edwards Cellars Merlot Orchard Avenue Oak Knoll District

  • 2015 Jean Edwards Cellars Merlot Orchard Avenue Oak Knoll District - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oak Knoll District (12/15/2021)
Dark color. Nose of fragrant cool blue fruits, coax/swirl: blackberries. It’s pretty. Palate shows redolent blue and black fruits already mentioned with some boysenberries, red cassis and a small note of black raspberries. This has a nice mouthfeel that coats the tongue front to back, left to right. Perfectly balanced, wonderful multi-layer and nicely resolved at 6 years young. A bit showy with some interesting distinction that I really enjoy, hard to put in words, it’s just there. Long and true, this is a very great Merlot, a grape I have been reacquainted with lately. I love the power minus the heft when compared to Cabernet Sauvignon and that’s why I once again reach for Merlot in 2021. F. U. Miles. (94 pts.)

Great note, really enjoy their merlots. At the club price of $50ish these offer incredible value for our money. The 16s are fantastic by the way!

Thanks Mike - love the write-up. You’ll need to come back to Napa to taste through our whole line-up. Cheers - Karen

Thanks, Karen. Sorry I missed you last time. Will make sure I don’t next. Cheers.

Thanks Ray flirtysmile It is a terrific Beckstoffer vineyard, and I think our (yet to be released) 2019 is the best wine we’ve made from it.
