Primarily a grower in the St. Helena area, the family started making some wine of their own. Most are low in ABV, retro if you will and mostly in small lots. The Diamond Mountain Cab is a big boy at 14.7 ABV. Just bottled, they delivered one to us yesterday and said it needs some time. 24 hours is what it got. Popped and poured. Espresso on black fruits with trailing kitchen spice through the already 30 second finish. Good tannins and it still needs to open up. After 20 minutes, the wine has gained weight and the finish is moving beyond 45 seconds with mocha highlighting the wine’s finish. Hope the pizza doesn’t take away from the wine.
