2015 Domaine Michel Juillot Mercurey 1er Cru Clos des Barraults - France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey 1er Cru (4/7/2018)
Decanted 6hrs. Being still very new to all matters Red burg, I couldn’t tell you where the fruit forward nature of the 2015 vintage began or the easy going nature of the Mercurey commune begins, but this offered a ton of early appeal and very much worth the early look. Dark fruited in character, the wine had lovely definition and pretty solid grip. Became more savory as the night wore on, with some cool mint tones adding a nice counterbalance to the quasi-lush fruit. Love to see this again in 5 years or so, and very strong buy for only $30.
