TN: 2015 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes

  • 2015 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (5/18/2026)
Tight at first but unfurls in the glass to show a core of perfectly ripe cherry, violets and flint. The palate is quite deep and powerful and just taking on a hint of earthy development. There's cool stoniness and good chew. It builds through the palate and fans out and is cut by a fine line of minerally acidity.

Nice note. I’m sitting on some 08, 09, and 10 Barthods (including Charmes) as I wanted to age them. It is probably getting to be time to start drinking them.

An 09 Fuees enjoyed last week was a bit compact but juicy. Sinewy. Has stuffing to go longer but can definitely be enjoyed now.

Sampled an '09 Veroilles last year year, and it was also surprisingly open for business and quite enjoyable. I will try a Cras this fall and report back, but nice to have a vintage of Barthod that can be appreciated now ?
A '99 Charmes I tried last year was also quite nice, although the '99 Fuees seemed to need more time !

I blinded 09 Mugnier and barthod fuees last year and the barthod definitely needed a bit to open up (although I ended up liking it more than the Mugnier)

Nice work, Michael.

My friend just sent me a photo from our dinner, after I had taken my first sip.

His caption: Chambolle Matt in his happy place! :squinting_face_with_tongue:
