TN: 2015 Division Winemaking Company Pinot Noir Quatre Bjornson Vineyard

2015 Division Winemaking Company Pinot Noir Quatre Bjornson Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (11/3/2017)
This comes from my second club shipment with Division, and yet again I am heartily impressed. The elegance and balance are what make the biggest impression. The fruit is clear and pure. There are gentle spice and earth accents that while delicious now, feel like the beginning of a beautiful future. Too bad I only had one bottle.

I’ve not had this wine, but have enjoyed others’ wines from Bjornson.

Bjornson vineyard is a favorite from several producers. [cheers.gif]

First wine I have ever had from the site.

The Eola-Amity Hills is becoming my favorite AVA with the reserved style of wines many producers craft. The PN that got me intrigued was an older Bethel Heights PN with a bright red berry quality I could just not stop drinking several years ago, I finally got what OR PN was becoming in the high acid reserved style. Seems like an AVA I need to explore.

A little thread drift, but this Wine is Serious Business #342 with Ken and Erica of Walter Scott Wines is a fun and informative discussion of the AVA. Wine Is Serious Business 342: 2015 Single Vineyard Wines From Walter Scott - YouTube
An earlier episode #231 gives a little more history. Wi sb - YouTube
I have not explored their top wines, but the entry level wines deliver some fine juice. [cheers.gif]

David, if you are interested in further explorations of this AVA, Walter Scott is definitely worth seeking out. For me, the Chardonnays are the draw, but the Pinots are might fine too.

Others on this board know more and can offer other suggestions, but other producers in this AVA to seek out are Cristom, Evesham Wood, Vincent, and Grochau.

My introduction to Vincent Wines was a 2011 Bjornson. Here’s another vote for the quality of this vineyard.

Thanks for that. I don’t have that kind of time right now (did not expect hour long), but will catch up later for sure.

I hadn’t seen the earlier episode and got sucked into viewing it. They are passionate about their wines, and definitely the kind of winemakers I like to support. I need to get some Freedom Hill, it’s just on the expensive side for me now, but not as dear as Cameron Clos Electrique.
