Claus Preisinger is one of my go-to producers in Austrian reds. There is more VA here than on the ones I’ve had before, however, and looking at others’ notes on CT it is likely a case of bottle variation. Still, it’s a darn crunchy, drinkable wine that evaporates more quickly than I would like considering my dreams of hitting the gym in the morning.

2015 Claus Preisinger Pinot Noir - Austria, Burgenland, Neusiedlersee (28.4.2023)
Markedly hazy in the glass with an orangeish/light brownish hue. A healthy dose of VA on the nose with attractive sourcherry-driven fruit and earthy and slightly truffley tones. Quite nice aromatics even if the VA is rather dominant. On the palate this is medium-bodied with low alcohol and an overall easy-going feel. It is dry and savory with a tartly fruity profile similar to the nose. There is some tannic grip to it and appropriate acidity and while it drinks really well it is not really a glou-glou wine despite the tangy, natty style. All Preisinger wines showcase great winemaking craft and this one is no exception. I do not have sufficient experience to say where it might go from here but I feel like this was a good time to pop the cork. For my palate it is possible that it would not benefit from additional aging and it could even start to decline relatively soon.
