A little bit of volatility (OK more than a little bit) to go along with a ton of black fruit and palate staining richness, this is a bomb right now, exploding on the palate and leaving a mark.

Sure this goes without saying (considering bottles I’ve had recently from the early 70s are drinking just fine)…but this is a HOLD, correct?
Yes. I think it is a hold for now. I am a bit worried about the level of volatility, but I am going to leave my other bottles to rest alongside my 2001 Ridge Essence bottles.
Someone else at our table ordered this in the mid 90s at Magnolia Grill after dinner from half bottle, didn’t know what it was but it left a big impression, quite literally. Sortof reminded me of a nice Port with a very American accent. Nice memory.
