One shouldn’t care about any single CT note/review especially coming from an unfamiliar palate but I was wondering about this wine that has a single rating of 84 points. Turns out, it’s a perfectly nice mid-weight Burg from a vintage that seems to suit my palate rather well. Having visited the winery a few times, it was always the whites that charmed me the most while there, but at home I have enjoyed each and every red of theirs that I ever bought. This is somewhat less elegant than Dubreuil-Fontaine reds on average but I really dig the classic proportions and the lift here.
- 2014 P. Dubreuil-Fontaine Père & Fils Aloxe-Corton - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Aloxe-Corton (30.12.2024)
A very pretty, minerally and slightly spicy nose of savory, bright red cherry and emerging forest floor and mushroom notes. There is the tiniest bit of VA that really adds character to what is otherwise very detailed and vibrantly fruity. On the palate it is more rustic and earthy than the nose but manages to have a good presence and flavor intensity. Somewhat matured at this point without any primary fruit characteristics. While not youthful there is this vibrancy to it that I really enjoy. Very food-friendly with high drinkability and a pleasantly clean, light finish.
