2014 Knez Winery Pinot Noir- USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley (12/24/2019)
Day 1: Little murky in color. Underbrush, violets, ripe strawberries, funk and spice. This is a lighter style which I love and very nice finish. I am going to really enjoy drinking this throughout the day. 91 points
Day 2: A delicate gem. Mushrooms, perfume, ripe strawberries, underbrush and white pepper. Very flavorful and medium plus finish. This is a solid effort. 91-92 points
Note: Interesting reviews on this wine. Seems like K & L got a bad batch. My prediction heat damage. Mine was purchased from Envoyer and is very good. (91 pts.)
The two vineyards used were Cerise and Demuth, and their brix at pick is waaaaaaaaay lower than a lot of RRV Pinot. But then again, most AV stuff is. These vineyards sit up a fair amount on the eastern hillside of the valley on somewhat steep slopes.
2014 was a pretty generous year, but the Cerise part of the wine can be quite tannic and sturdier to me early on. This blended entry level wine drinks pretty well at this point. The single vineyard Cerise and Demuth are slower to come around. Unfortunately they only made the wines for 6 years from 2009-14. The Demuth Chardonnay is really wonderful.
Day 3: Burg like with funk, light fruits, floral and earth. Good acidity. Short to medium finish. 91 points
Recommendation: if you get this less than $25.00 buy unless it is from K & L. (91 points)

If you’re ever in DC let me know! Have a few from each vintage and the 09/10s are showing great recently.
Used to live near Harrisburg and have not been to DC in a long time. Maybe a family road trip!
