2014 Gaetano D’Aquino Brunello di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (7/24/2026)
– decanted 30 min. before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over 1.75 hrs. –
NOSE: cherries, with a light stony mineral complication; medium intensity.
BODY: dark ruby color with medium-light bricking throughout; color is of medium-shallow to medium depth; medium bodied.
TASTE: medium tannins; earthy – similar to light TCA, but I think it’s more likely not TCA. Medium acidity. Clearly has some tertiary aspects. Dark red fruits. It’s “okay”, I suppose. I am not 100% sold on this not being slightly corked, but regardless I’m not impressed with it. It was a recent $20 dart throw, so kinda hard to get too upset here. Needless to say, not a rebuy.
