TN: 2014 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (Italy, Abruzzi, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo)

I guess many of us have a special producer or two that hold special places- Emidio Pepe is one of mine.

The degree to which these wines are so stunningly pure, yet complex and engaging, is always a beautiful thing. The '14 is still young, its got the Pepe freshness that really shows in its youth. But the nose is starting to give tertiary development of earth and florals alongside fresh crushed berries. Red fruit, followed by salinity and a rocky essence. Crunchy and racy and raw, yet so elegant. Singular. And a pretty good pizza wine!

For me Pepe never disappoints! Nice note Dennis.

Thanks, Tom!

Funny that you start the post this way as I just thought how more and more when I see the title of a new thread I immediately and involuntarily make a guess in my mind who Berserker might behind it and seeing this title made me think it’s probably you :grinning: Bueker, Yeo and Holmes are some of the others with whom I seem to have a particularly good hitrate, a combination of them being such prolific posters and me spending way too much time reading their posts I suppose

Ha. I’ll wear that proudly! Team Pepe. Thanks, Ilkka.

Thanks Dennis. I very much like Pepe’s wines. Just wish they were easier to find.
