TN: 2014 Domaine Michel Bregeon Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Clisson

  • 2014 Domaine Michel Bregeon Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Clisson - France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine (10/21/2022)
This has become quite a nice drink. My first bottle a couple years back I thought was pretty meh. I underestimated the wine. This is lovely.

A bright, fresh, and clean nose. Pear, oyster shell, rocks, and citrus pith. Mid weighted, detailed, and fresh on the palate. It's lively, mouthwatering, and stony. It doesn't have the gravitas and extract of the 14 Pepiere Clisson, but it is alive, refreshing and delicious. It dances on the palate. Drinking beautifully right now. 91 (91 points)

Glad you enjoyed it. Fred Lailler is doing a good job here, but the wines need time. Having said that I am myself guilty of ordering a 2015 Gorges in a restaurant a couple of months ago. We were just getting to the end of the main course as the wine was eventually opening up!

It might interest you to know that Fred’s Clisson vines came from Pépière - obtained in a vineyard exchange (which is why Rémi and Gwénaëlle have a Gorges in their range of wines).

Thanks for the insight Chris. Looks like I should bury some for a few years. This was pretty yum.

Thanks again
